It's Almost 2011!!

Well this year has flown by! I can't believe it will be the 1-year anniversary of me becoming self sufficient soon. I mean 85% self sufficient, but 2011 will be the year of 100% self sufficiency. I can hear the celebration coming from my parents house from here! Oh the joys of being an adult.

So last weekend was Christmas and it was wonderful! Not my post-Christmas day hangover, but Christmas itself was awesome. Christmas Eve I went to my parents and we had a delicious salmon dinner, had some wine, and ended up playing the wii. I am quite the bowler!

My dad and I tricked my mom that night into thinking we had "forgot" to get her the usual Christmas presents, consisting of a calendar I make her every year, and peanuts and wine that my dad has given her I think every single Christmas since they have been together. She was quite upset! So Christmas day after we had opened all the presents I pulled out the calendar to surprise her. She was so happy! That is the one thing I could never forget, because she would be heart broken. I'm pretty sure she told me on Christmas Eve that Christmas was ruined because I didn't make her a calendar!

Christmas Florida Style!!

Anyway, the usual happened on Christmas day- presents, lots of food, a nice long nap, and of course decorating my main man!

Christmas night Krista, Katie, and I opened my $70 bottle of wine that was given to me last Christmas. It needed to be drank and Katie has been begging me to open it all year. I finally gave in because I thought that Christmas was a big enough reason for me to open it. Well thank goodness I opened it because there was mold or something in the bottle where the cork was, but of course we drank it anyway! That night was filled with a lot of laughter, tons of dancing, and me having the worst hangover EVER the next morning. It was worth it though!

Adam has been gone since Christmas Eve and I am totally ready for him to come home. Just a few more days left and I am super excited to see him. And also his mom and dad are coming back with them, so I'll get to hang out with them this coming weekend. Becky (Adam's mom) and I are going to a spa here in Tampa on Sunday to get some much needed pampering. I'm really looking forward to it!

See you all in 2011!!

What A Weekend!

This past weekend was full of fun surprises!

It all started when a celebrity yelled at me! That's right. Derek Jeter and his woman Minka Kelly were sitting right next to my boss and I at a little cafe in Hyde Park on Friday. I was trying to inconspicuously take a photo of them with my camera phone, but Minka looked at me and said (in the snottiest voice ever) "are you done yet?!?!" This was followed by dirty looks and being pretty embarrassed on my end.

It wasn't until we got back to the office that we realized who she actually was and that she is 2010's sexiest woman alive!

Well she might be pretty and all, but she sure is bitchy...

That's not the most exciting thing that happened to me this weekend because...

I BOUGHT A NEW CAR!!

It's a 2008 Lexus IS250 which is the car that I have always wanted. After work on Friday I went to the Nissan dealership to test drive the brand new Nissan Rogue (which are their crossover vehicle), and I liked it. It was a standard vehicle that would get me from point A to B, but not something luxurious and definitely not a head turner.

As I was walking into the building, I looked over and saw this pretty little gal, or guy- I haven't decided yet. And it was love at first sight. We have been together ever since! :-)

I'm having so much fun zipping around in that car! It's definitely a whole different driving experience coming from my SUV to a sporty sedan.

That night we went to Adam's family's house to exchange presents, fondue, and play games. It was a blast! Adam got me a new camera that I have been needing, and it actually projects the pictures onto a wall. It's the neatest thing! Chris (Adam's brother) got the kids a big wheel and of course they loved it, so it was fun watching them drive around.

Well that's it for now. I'm looking forward to my short week here at work, and hanging with the fam this weekend for Christmas. Hopefully I will be hooking up my new TV this weekend if my mom and dad pull through!

Happy Holidays!

12 Days til' Christmas!

Well this past weekend was for the most part uneventful...except one of my best friends got engaged!! Congratulations Brandi Kristina Craven! I can't wait to see you walk down the aisle. :-)

I'm sure everyone knows what this means for Adam! When I text messaged him to tell him Brandi was engaged he called me to apologize and told me our day would come, so I can't be too mad at him and my disgustingly bare left hand.

Anyway, enough with engagement talk, let's move on to my pretty uneventful weekend...

Adam had his friend Dan Drost down from Canada and him and another couple buddies went camping at Jennie Springs. So I decided to use my free time wisely and 1. Have some relaxing alone time and 2. Hang with my girlfriends because it's not too often I get to see them on the weekend.

Friday night I ended up watching Toy Story 3 and crying my eyes out. That's all I'm going to write about that because I am embarrassed.

Saturday I went Christmas shopping for approximately 5 hours. I am done buying for everyone except my mother, so that's a relief. Adam has so many presents! I definitely spoiled him this Christmas. After that Katie, Zulaima, and I went to the fire pit bar (The Brewhouse) and then to the MacDintons so Katie could get her dance on.

Hyde Park

Sunday I cleaned, did laundry, prepared a pot roast for our dinner tonight, met all the boys at Courtside Grill for dinner, and then slept 10 hours.

And now I am starting a fresh new week, and looking forward to having my boyfriend's attention back to focusing all on me! Hehe

This weekend we are doing a gift exchange and fondue at Adam's family's house since they will be flying home to Canada for Christmas. I am looking forward to that because I always have a blast hanging out with them. Also Adam and I will be doing our gift exchange there as well, and I will get my new digital camera!! Yay!

Have a good week everyone and I will try to make a funny picture blog post some time this week.

Tootles!

Fun With My Imaginary Puppy

I have always been a dog lover. The love started with Sammy girl, and then Miss Abby, and then the stealer of my heart-my sweet sweet little boy, Onyx

I don't think I could love another

But even though I love my little man so much, I am looking forward to the day when Adam and I can get a puppy. We talk about it often (usually when I am upset and Adam wants to make me feel better) but we know that it won't happen until we have a house, a yard, not much of a social life, etc. But we can still dream!

But look how cute our little family will be once we do get a puppy..

I wonder how long it will take before Adam is embarrassed by my postings?

To South Carolina We Go!

As you all may know my wonderful brother lives in Greenville, SC and he most likely will not be home for the holidays (tear), so my mom, dad, and I decided to pack up our bags and go to him.

I was a little nervous for this trip because this is the first time the 4 of us had spent that much time together since...well since I can even remember. But I was also super excited about this trip because my family is HYSTERICAL. And when I say hysterical, I mean over the top, fun to be around, laugh your head off people. I'm not talking when they just have a buzz (which was most of the time), I'm talking 24 hour funny people.

Both plane rides I almost had a heart attack because my mother is sitting next to me going "what's that noise, what's going on, the area we're about to land doesn't look familiar to me." My brain is already thinking those things, I don't need a mother (who I thought was supposed to be soothing) freak me out even more. I guess she tried to be because this happened - "Do you want me to hold your hand, Chris." "No, I'm fine, mom." "Well can you please hold mine then?" This goes to show that two flying anxiety ridden people should probably not sit together in a death trap.

Anyway, if I tell you every funny thing that happened then I'll be here all day and I'm sure you don't want that because you probably have some what of a life to get to. I however do not. So here is a brief description of each day.

The first night we got there we went to Downtown Greenville for dinner with Tony and his new girlfriend Lindsey. See pic.
Tony and Lindsey
(I had a request to take the original picture down..sorry)

Tony had warned her beforehand that she would be embarrassed by us, but she seemed to fit in pretty well. This is the night that I had the most expensive meal in my entire life. A $40 filet mignon with smoked gouda mashed potatoes, asparagus, and she crab soup. I will be dreaming about that meal for a VERY long time. Thanks mom and dad! They know I can only afford to eat scraps most of the time.

That night I curled up with a 110lb furry giant named Bailey.

Bailey's the one in the front, although they are both furry

The next day my brother cooked a bunch of meat in the smoker. It was rainy and cold all day but we made a fire and tried to keep a little warm.

The next day was Sunday and you better believe that my family wasn't missing football. They literally were in a sports bar all day. And since I don't drink during the day because I actually like being awake at 6pm, I walked around downtown, did a little shopping, enjoyed a nap, and then went back to the bar for dinner. We ended up playing Scene It, which now I am totally obsessed with (hint, hint for anyone reading this buying me a Christmas present) and then my mom, dad, and I watched Christmas Carol. Well my dad started to watch it, but stormed out of the living room when he couldn't hear the movie over the crackers that he was stuffing into his face. Literally, he was so mad that he couldn't hear the movie over the crackers crunching inside his mouth that he refused to watch it- not stop eating.

I then curled up with my 110lb gentle giant and called it a night.

Don't mind me looking "ruff" -see what I did there?

And that was most of our trip! One last pic to send you off..

Happy Holidays!!
